Designing a calm workflow.

Reserve attention for the moments that need a person.

Make interruptions earn their place

I would treat attention as a limited part of the system. Every notification asks someone to stop what they are doing and interpret a new signal. That interruption should come with a useful reason, especially when a workflow runs repeatedly throughout the day.

A calm workflow can keep routine progress available while surfacing meaningful changes. I want a notification to explain what happened, why it matters now, and whether action is needed. Combining related information and avoiding repeated alerts for an unchanged condition makes it easier to notice the moments that deserve judgment.
