The shape of a handoff.
Give the next person context, evidence, and a clear next move.
Transfer understanding
I think a handoff is complete when the next person can act without reconstructing the previous person’s thought process. A status label helps, but it cannot carry the whole exchange. I would include what was requested, what has happened, and what still needs a decision.
The most useful detail is often the boundary of uncertainty. If a check was skipped, I want to say so. If a result depends on an assumption, I want to make it visible. Good handoffs preserve momentum by making the next step understandable rather than merely assigning it.
